Criminal Advocacy: Having prosecuted cases as a police officer from 1977 to 1996 Stephen now specializes in defending those charged with the most serious criminal offences including organized crime, serious violence (homicide), firearms, sexual offences, misuse of drugs, fraud and asset confiscation. Stephen appears mainly in the Crown Court and Court of Appeal.
Stephen is entitled to receive instructions through the Direct Access scheme and is also able to offer excellent representation to clients at the Police Station, right up to and through a trial in the Crown Court. He has previously worked “in house” on multi-national pharmaceutical contracts and Fund Management compliance.
Medico-Legal Interests: Stephen has previously volunteered with the Citizen’s Advice Bureau and frequently engages in work for clients suffering from mental illness. Niti Joshi, LLB (Hons) from Brunel University and LPC from the College of Law, is a Duty Solicitor at MB Law Ltd Solicitors who has experience in criminal and family law. Niti is an extremely hardworking individual with excellent organization skills. She has dealt with matters ranging from GBH, ABH, Robbery and Theft offences, to name a few. She has extensive knowledge of handling divorce, non-molestation cases, contact matters and care proceedings.

Criminal Advocacy: Tahir is a junior advocate and regularly appears in the magistrates’ court and crown courts. Notable cases defending in the crown court include representing a man charged with theft from the employer. Tahir analyzed the figures comprising the value of all items stolen. He recalculated the same and negotiated a reduction with the crown which resulted in the man being placed into a lower sentence category. He successfully mitigated and achieved a non-custodial disposal. Recently, he negotiated, following the jury being sworn, a plea from a section 18 GBH where a meat cleaver had been used to attack the victim to a section 20 and achieved a non-custodial disposal.
Civil Litigation: The Following qualification as a trainee solicitor, Tahir completed a secondment in the litigation department at a small/medium sized city firm. He was supervised by the partner but had a hands-on approach to work. Notable cases include carousel fraud, breach of contract claims involving insurance company which refused to ‘pay out’ monies following the theft of the client’s Range Rover Vogue and cases involving a breach of constructive trusts. Furthermore, he has successfully represented clients in bankruptcy courts in applications to set aside statutory demands, appeared on behalf of client’s in interim applications. Also, he continues to develop a successful employment law practice.
